This is an interesting almost jazz, almost prog, occasionally Mathy set of instrumental pieces that skitters between, never quite being one thing or the other; never quite making up it's mind. That's sort of like looking in a mirror. :-)) Listen a while; this will grow on you.
Recorded in December 2016 at Maison des Artistes, Chamonix, France, OddAtlas is the brainchild of Warren Walker and Federico Casagrande. Despite being long time friends in the Paris, France music scene, Odd Atlas is the first album they had the opportunity to create together. Joining them from New York were bassist and engineer, Sam Minaie, and drummer Caleb Dolister.
The Odd Atlas recording began simply as an experiment to see what would happen when Walker, Casagrande, Minaie and Dolister locked themselves in a remote mountain studio for a week. The band arrived at the alpine studio as prepared as possible, but since everyone was coming from different locations, that meant there was just handful of odd compositions and untitled ideas, and a one week deadline to build something from nothing.
